Bryson Hickok
Director - Valuations

Bryson has 9 years of energy industry experience, with a focus on reserves, energy economics and financial evaluations. Bryson received his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary in 2013. He will receive his Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Calgary in 2022, with a specialization in Finance.

Bryson started his oil and gas career in 2011 as a field operations summer student, working for

Canadian Natural Resources Limited as a production operator in a heavy oil waterflood field in rural Saskatchewan. This was followed by several other student internships, working on production analysis, hydraulic fracturing, waterflood optimization, as well as field, pipeline, and facilities regulatory drafting.

After graduating from engineering in 2013, Bryson joined Deloitte Calgary’s Resource Evaluations Advisory practice. He performed third-party reserves evaluations and resource assessments, following COGEH, NI51-101, and SEC reporting standards. This work included production and commodity price forecasting, as well as audits of operational expenses, royalties, land ownership, and drilling incentives.

In 2015, Bryson worked as a production engineering consultant for Questerre Energy where he performed rate and pressure transient analysis, and built a new hydraulic fracture analysis database for type curve modelling of their Montney field development.

Bryson joined AESL in 2016 as Director of Evaluations. He provides technical and financial advisory on reserves and evaluations, and performs economic modelling used to maximize value of acquisitions and field development planning.

With the growing significance and public attention to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in today’s oil and gas industry, Bryson has worked extensively on the topic of CO2 emissions reduction. This rapidly evolving field includes strategic planning for Canadian government and international climate policy, as well as the development and implementation of the latest in emissions reduction technology.
