Bruce Murray, B.Comm.
Executive Advisor

 

Mr. Murray is Executive Advisor to Advantage Energy Services Ltd. (AESL) with over 40 years of extensive experience in the areas of exploration and production negotiations, marketing, operations, and management. As a third generation Albertan, born and raised in Calgary, Bruce attended the University of Calgary and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1979.

 

Mr. Murray has held several executive roles throughout his career, including 16 years as co-founder, director and Chief Operating Officer of Purcell Energy Ltd. (TSX) which sold in 2005 for $150 million. Purcell’s British Columbian assets were spun out to Tenergy Ltd., where Bruce served as President and director from 2005 to 2006 until it was sold for $92 million. In 2012, Mr. Murray served as Chairman of Passport Energy Ltd. and was appointed President of the company a year later. In 2014, Passport merged with Amarok Energy Inc. to form Powder Mountain Energy Ltd, which later merged with Canamax Energy Ltd. where he remained as director until 2015 when the company was taken private for $82 million.

 

In 2008, Mr. Murray co-founded start-up winery, Zorzal, located in Mendoza, Argentina. Zorzal Winery has been named by Wines and Spirits Magazine as one of the top 100 wineries in the world. Bruce was the Chairman and President of Zorzal from inception until retirement in 2018 and continues to serve on the Board of Directors.

 

From 2005 to 2018 Mr. Murray was President of the Board of Directors for the Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured (ARBI) and between 2005 and 2012 he co-instructed a fourth-year Bachelor of Commerce course at the University of Calgary on the Canadian Oil and Gas sector.
