PRODUCTION DOUBLE, RESERVES & VALUE TRIPLE

Unocal Reservoir Engineering Surveillance Technology Project (REST) 2000-01
After seeing their sale of the Irene Platform to Torch Energy turn into a value triple for the buyer, Unocal identified a weakness in their legacy assets management and engaged AESL’s team.

In a series of 25 workshops held over 18 months in their world-wide operations (Indonesia, Thailand and Gulf of Mexico), our team facilitated implementation of sustainable business practices to improve engineering effectiveness, reservoir management, production volumes and alignment of cross-functional groups.

The most significant result from this $1M contract was the identification of 35,000 boed in production uplift opportunities through the introduction of the IFR across the organization. This represented 7% of Unocal’s 500,000 boed base production. Four years later, the company sold to ChevronTexaco for $17B.

Nexen's Transformation with Tecskor/AESL Business Processes
Alignment, Prioritization, Accountability, Communication
“Keeping people aligned and focused on priority work was really tough. Thirty-five day rotational shifts and a 10 hour time difference has made this even harder.”
— GM, Yemen Operations, NEXEN International
How PEAK Helped
Improved Return on Capital and Knowledge
The PEAK Work Coordination System™ and TOP-TEN Process quickly put individuals and teams “on the same page” and introduced new ways of working together that increased their efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of “High Impact” Initiatives.

They Understood Our Business
“PEAK has a good methodology and the Tecskor team worked with us to design the system to fit our organization”

IFR Process 20,000 boed Optimization Gain
Calgary based Nexen Inc., one of Canada’s premier producers of oil and gas, has operations spanning the globe and over 2,000 employees. In 2002, the Yemen international division of the Company was staring at a 20,000 boed production shortfall from their 200,000 boed target after the drill bit had let them down. With Tecskor already engaged at Nexen in a company-wide installation of the PEAK TOP-TEN Process, there was a listening for how the oil & gas optimization expertise of AESL might help Nexen meet their goal. After walking Management through the story of how the Integrated Field Review (IFR) Process had hit a homerun for Unocal in 2001, the AESL-Tecskor Partnership received approval to train and facilitate IFR implementation with Yemen’s Asset Teams. Within 3 months, the 20,000 boed optimization target was achieved and by 2004, bolstered by the collaborative strength of the IFR and TOP-TEN Processes, Nexen’s Yemen operation reached record production levels.
“The Integrated Field Review process provided 10% production gains in one quarter...and we continue to sustain and get value from this process."
— GM, Yemen Operations, NEXEN International
